Wulves: Wild & Wonderful
Here are some places** and/or sites L. N.
Passmore suggests you visit to learn more about wolves and
those who care for and about them:
(**sanctuaries L. N. Passmore has personally visited)
Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center**
www.grizzlydiscoveryctr.com/
The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone,
Montana, is a large educational and research operation
with live grey wolves and grizzly bears. It is well
staffed with knowledgeable wildlife experts. The book
and gift store features a wide variety of educational
and recreational material. |
Wolf Education and Research Center (WERC) **
www.wolfcenter.org
The Wolf Education and Research Center, located on Nez
Perce Tribal lands, educates the public on wolves and
wolf issues, advocates for wild wolf recovery, works
to enhance understanding to all parties involved in
wolf issues, and gives shelter to the Owyhee pack. Formerly
this facility was the sanctuary of the wolves known
as the Sawtooth Mountain Pack, adopted by the Nez Perce
Nation. The research staff lives and works in the same
near wilderness, no-frills conditions as the wolves
they tend and study. |
Wolf Park**
www.wolfpark.org
Located in Lafayette, Indiana, Wolf Park, a large research
facility provides shelter to wolves, education, and
public outreach. It features a well-stocked, high quality
book and gift store. Tours and lectures are very worthwhile. |
Wolfsanctum**
www.wolfsanctum.org
Wolfsanctum, a sanctuary for captive bred wolves and
wolf dogs, is located in the Appalachian Mountains of
North Carolina. While remote, the site gives shelter
to a wide range of wolves and wolf dogs. The gift and
book store is quite nice and the entire compound, including
a guest cottage, is very well maintained, as are the
animals that have been given sanctuary. |
The UK Wolf Conservation Trust - Working to Keep
Wolves in the Wild
www.ukwolf.org
"The UK Wolf Conservation Trust is a non-profit
organisation working to keep wolves in the wild. Come
and see the wolves at our sanctuary on one of our open
days!" |
